Requirements

We at Beta Alpha Psi realize that accounting majors spend a lot of time with their academics. Therefore, candidate requirements are tailored to those who are studious and do not have a lot of free time. The only requirement to become a candidate is you must be enrolled in or have completed ACCT 3110 (External Financial Reporting I). The rest of the requirements are for candidates wishing to gain active membership. If these following requirements are not met, the candidate simply remains a candidate until they are met.

The following requirements must be completed during the pledge semester:

• You must be present at a minimum of five of the six professional meetings. One and only one absence will be allowed.

• You must perform at least ten hours of community service. Service activities will be scheduled by the service coordinator.

• You must be present at half of the social activities. If three activities are scheduled you must attend two.

• You must attend one professional development activity.

 

The following requirements must be met at the end of the candidate semester to gain active membership:

You must have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA in upper level accounting courses and meeting one of the following:

(1) attaining at least a cumulative GPA of 3.0

(2) achieving a rank within the top 35% of your university class

(3) attaining at least a 3.25 cumulative GPA in the most recent 30 semester hours which shall be computed using all grades earned in upper level accounting classes.
